Helsedirektoratet har innført følgende tiltak for reisende til og rundt om i Norge.
From Thursday 12th of March until Thursday 26th of March 2020, the following rules apply:
- All travellers that are residents of Norway and who have been outside of the Nordic countries, are to stay in their homes for 14 days after arriving home to Norway, regardless of whether they have symptoms or not.
- Travellers from countries outside of the Nordic region who are not residents of Norway will be asked to return to their home country. If you cannot return, the alternative is quarantine. Travellers with symptoms will be isolated.
- This means that everyone presently staying in Norway and who has been in a country outside of the Nordic region in the past 14 days is to be quarantined.
- This policy has retroactive effect and applies to all arrivals since Thursday 27th of February.
- Domestic transport is to continue as normal as possible for now, but avoid all kinds of travel that are not strictly necessary (both domestic and abroad)
- Avoid public transport if you can
- Avoid other places where you can easily get close to others
- Avoid close contact with others

Medical contact information in Norway
If you are experiencing symptoms like fever, sore throat, chest pain and breathing difficulties while in Norway, please stay in your hotel room/appartment and contact hotel guest service by telephone.
Don't go to hospital yourself, contact the service number and explain your situation. This is the best and most effective way to receive competent and prompt help.
Only contact the 24-hour Norwegian medical service if you are in need of medical assistance.

Stricter border controls
16 March. The police will close the border crossing on European route E10 (E10) between Norway and Sweden from Monday 16 March 2020 at 08:00. Only those with pressing need will be allowed to cross the border.
These are allowed to cross the border:
• Work commuters
• Transport for business
• Residents in Norway who come from Sweden and are going home
• Swedes with permanent residence in Sweden who are going home
• Business transport from Norway to Sweden
• The reindeer herding industry
All other traffic between Sweden and Norway is not allowed, such as day trips and other leisure trips.

Extraordinary measures in Narvik
Most of the attractions in the Narvik region are now temporarily closed to prevent further spreading of the virus. All upcomming culture- and sport events the next few weeks are also cancelled.
Most of the restaurants are open, however with strong restrictions on number of guests allowed and extra safety rules to avvoid spreading the virus.

There are no closures on the public transport network at the moment.
Shopping malls have restricted their opening hours, and are open from 10.00-18.00
Grocery stores are open as normal.
Given the rapid changes, we encourage everyone to check the websites of individual attractions, businesses and organisers for updated information.
To avoid the spread of the virus, make sure you:
- Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds using soap and warm water. Use hand sanitiser if you do not have access to water.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue (not your hands) when sneezing or coughing, or cough into your albow.
- Clean and disinfect regularly touched objects and surfaces to reduce the risk of spreading germs.
- Keep distance of one meter to other people

Guests are hereby reminded of Visit Narvik Booking Terms and Conditions cancellations fees and deadlines:
- 100% refund is provided for cancellations made more than 14 days prior to the tour date
- 50% of the total is refunded for cancellations made 7-14 days prior to the tour date
- No refund is provided for cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the tour date
Should you need to cancel your booking, kindly inform us on [email protected]. It is appreciated that you also inform the provider by email if you are cancelling less than 14. days before the tour date.
If no other stated there will regretfully be no extraordinary refunds given due to coronavirus related cancellation requests. Guests are required to have adequate travel insurance to cover surch situations.
