How To Travel To Lavangen

Lavangen is located 50km north of Narvik and can be experienced as a day trip or with an overnight stay. A car offers the greatest flexibility, especially if you want to combine the Midnight Sun Stairs, Henrikkafossen, Spanstinden, Krambuvika, Fjellkysten and Lapphaugen in the same stay.

To plan your trip to Lavangen by bus, you should use Entur, as the region crosses county borders and public transport planning should be done together.

Visiting sweat

Choose your trip according to your shape, experience and weather. The midnight sun stairs have many steps and require you to be comfortable with a steady climb. Henrikkafossen is located in steep and damp terrain, so keep a good distance from the waterfall and be aware of slippery sections. Spanstinden is a mountain hike for experienced hikers and requires good footwear, the right equipment and stable conditions.

Caves should be experienced with a guide where recommended. Show consideration for cultural monuments, museum areas and local meeting places. Follow marked trails, park considerately and take all waste home. During the winter months, weather, road conditions and avalanche risk must be considered extra carefully.
