Driving to Narvik by car

The road to Narvik goes through spectacular mountain areas, fjords and Arctic landscapes, and the journey itself is a big part of the experience. Narvik is well connected to both Norway, Sweden and Finland through a modern road network and serves as a natural hub in the High North.

The roads to Narvik

From the south , follow the E6 north through Nordland with views of fjords, mountains and beautiful nature.

From Sweden, the E10 from Luleå via Kiruna and Bjørnfjell goes directly to Narvik. This stretch is especially popular with travelers who combine Northern Norway with Swedish Lapland.

From Finland , you can drive through Sweden or Troms and Finmark in Norway and connect to the E6 or E10 further towards Narvik.

Driving in Arctic Conditions

Winter driving in Northern Norway requires a little extra planning and attention. Snow, ice, polar nights, and rapidly changing weather conditions can make driving conditions challenging, especially for travelers who are not used to Arctic winter roads.

Roads can be narrow, slippery and exposed to the weather, and braking distances are significantly longer on ice and snow. Winter tires are mandatory during the winter season, and we always recommend allowing plenty of time and driving according to the conditions.
