Arctic Race of Norway – Final stage in Narvik
On Sunday, August 16, 2026, Narvik city center and Narvikfjellet will be the arena for one of the summer's major public festivals when the Arctic Race of Norway ends with a spectacular finale in Narvik.
The Arctic Race of Norway is held from 13 to 16 August and brings together some of the world's best cycling teams for four days of cycling through the northern Norwegian landscape. The final stage goes from Sortland to Narvik and offers just over 190 kilometers before the riders finish with the demanding climb up to the finish in Narvikfjellet.

A final that could decide the entire race
After a long day on the bike, a dramatic finish awaits in Narvikfjellet with the finish at Base Camp.
The riders start at Sortland at 13.25. According to the plan, the field will pass Bjerkvik around 17.19 and the Hålogaland Bridge around 17.37. The organizer expects the finish in Narvik around 18.01, but depending on the speed, the riders can be at the finish line as early as approx. 17.49.
Here, the audience will have the opportunity to get close to the world elite when the battle for the stage victory and potentially the overall victory in the Arctic Race of Norway will be decided with Narvik, Ofotfjorden and the mountains as a backdrop.

Public celebrations throughout the day
The final day is about far more than the pro race itself. Arctic Race invites you to activities for both young and old throughout the day, and it therefore pays to arrive in Narvik well before the riders arrive.

- 11.00–18.00: ARN village in Narvik
- 13.00–16.00: Sports conference
- 16.00: Sport creates chances
- 16:00–17:00: SNN Mini Arctic Race
- 16:00–17:00: Roller skiing in the finish area
- 16.30–16.45: PolarKraft Sprint in Narvikfjellet
- Approx. 17:05: The Arctic Race caravan arrives at the finish area
- Approx. 18.01: Expected finish for the Arctic Race of Norway, at the earliest approx. 17.49
Program and time can be adjusted. Therefore, check the organizer's updated program before you go.
Activities for the whole family
Even the youngest can become part of the cycling party. The SNN Mini Arctic Race will be held in the city from 16:00 to 17:00, while at the same time there will be roller skiing in the finish area. Later in the afternoon, the PolarKraft Sprint will be held in Narvikfjellet, a one-kilometer challenge with 151 meters of elevation.
Before the pro riders arrive, the popular Arctic Race caravan also passes the finish area around 17:05. Here there will be extra life and activity while the audience waits for the final.
Narvik municipality also invites you to activities and entertainment throughout the weekend. Local actors and Arctic Race partners will be present with stands and activities in the center.
Backwards cliff and life in Narvik harbor
On Sunday at 14.00, there will also be a backwards dive in Narvik harbour. The public can follow the challenge from the harbor area, where there will be a DJ, music, stalls, dining and activities.
This makes it possible to combine several experiences during the day before the trip continues towards the city center and Narvikfjellet to see the final.
Arrive early, traffic will be affected
The Arctic Race will bring extensive changes to traffic on Sunday 16 August. The E10, rv. 85 and several county and municipal roads along the route will be affected, and some stretches may be completely closed to traffic for several hours. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration recommends that both residents and visitors plan their journey and check updated traffic reports before departure.
The bus routes will also be affected by the race, and Reis Nordland has published its own route changes for the period 13–16 August. Check updated public transport information before you travel to or from Narvik.
Our tip: Set aside plenty of time, arrive early and make the final day a full day in Narvik.

Since its inception in 2013, the Arctic Race of Norway has become one of Northern Norway's largest international sporting events. When the world's elite fight their way up the last slopes in Narvikfjellet on Sunday 16 August, it will be a unique opportunity to experience elite sports up close and at the same time take part in a public festival in the middle of Narvik's spectacular nature.
