Description

The geysir at Taraldsvik power plant is one of Narvik's most famous viewpoints. The place is located at the gate to Tøttadalen, where the city meets the mountain and the trails continue further into one of Narvik's most used outdoor areas. From the area you can look out over Narvik, the fjord and the mountains that frame the city. The most characteristic is the water spray, which is visible from the center when it is in operation. If you stand close to the power plant when the water is released, the experience can be quite wet. The water comes from the mountains above Narvik and has passed through a tunnel and pipeline before reaching Taraldsvik power plant. With a high drop, enough pressure builds up to send the water up to 75 meters into the air. Inside the power plant, the water is used to produce clean electrical energy, before it goes on as drinking water for Narvik. This makes the geysirn more than a photo point. It shows how mountain water, energy and city life are connected in Narvik, a city where nature is not far away, but is part of everyday life.

The geyser can be experienced every day at 13:00 and 21:00 from 1 June to 31 August. The season is June–August. You can drive on asphalt roads all the way to the water splash. There are no restrictions at the water spray. There are no facilities at the property. Toilet is not available. The place is suitable for children. The place is suitable with dogs. Please note that you may get wet when the water spray is operating.
