Krambuvika Bygdemuseum

Right down by the sea on Soløy in Lavangen is Krambuvika Bygdemuseum, a cultural-historical facility with several buildings and a varied collection of objects. The museum provides a close encounter with life along the fjord, where trade, crafts, fishing and local communities have left clear traces. The story goes back to 1882, when merchant P. D. Dons opened a grocery store on Soløy. Later, the store was sold to Bendix Normann, who got a post office here in 1887. Today, you can visit a nostalgic shop, a pier house, a shoemaker's workshop, a boathouse with maritime utility items, boathouses with older types of boats and several buildings that show different sides of everyday life and business in the area. Krambuvika Rural Museum Association has collected buildings and objects that have been important for Lavangen and Northern Norway's identity and history. Here you will find, among other things, a mortuary with a war exhibition, Jennystua with an interior exhibition from the 1800s, a shed for storing supplies and a milk ramp from the 1960s. Entrance with guided tour must be booked in advance. During the summer season, the museum is also permanently open on Sundays from June 20 to August 21. The cultural trail can be done on your own and goes from the Mountain Coast towards Elvedalen, via the village mill and along the village road to Krambuvika Bygdemuseum.
