MiN • Sundquist - Mest Schubert // Narvik Kulturhus, Mørkholla

Next occasion
What happens when we challenge the traditional way of performing classical music? Do all movements have to be played one after another? Or can we take time to talk, play something different and let the music breathe along the way?

In this concert, we invite you to enjoy a playful and unconventional musical experience featuring Franz Schubert's famous Piano Quintet in A major, D. 667 – better known as the «Trout Quintet»!

Description

We will perform the entire work, but not quite in the usual way. For those unfamiliar with the piece, the fourth movement might sound familiar as the tune that tells you the washing machine has finished and it's time to hang out the laundry!

The Trout Quintet is a playful and richly textured work for piano and strings. Schubert brings together piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass to create a musical world that is warm, surprising and full of life.

Between movements, the musicians will take time to speak to the audience, while other shorter musical works will find their way into the programme between Schubert's movements. What will appear is part of the surprise!

Look forward to a welcoming, playful and slightly unconventional classical concert – where the music is given room to breathe and the audience gets to experience classical music in a whole new way.

A co-production by Musikk i Nordland and Scene Nord.
