Description

The performance follows Kristian, a new substitute teacher standing before a fifth-grade class filled with different personalities, needs, and dreams. As a teacher, he must act as an educator, mentor, caregiver, and problem-solver all at once. At the same time, he carries a hidden inner turmoil that affects the way he approaches both his students and his work. Through his interactions with the children, he is forced to confront his own inner child, his insecurities, and his understanding of what it means to be a teacher. Using his distinctive blend of slam poetry, storytelling, and acting, Fredrik Høyer creates a performance that is both entertaining and deeply reflective. The text explores themes of responsibility, learning, and identity while examining how people are shaped by the expectations and perceptions of others. What initially appears to be an ordinary school setting gradually transforms into a larger, universal story about self-discovery, belonging, and personal growth.
