Description

Ørnesvika is one of the most adapted swimming spots near the center of Narvik. Here the fjord is open in front of you, with a diving tower, bathing jetty and space for swimming, sunbathing, barbecuing and playing. The bathing area has clear salt water, beach, green areas and an outdoor area that makes it easy to use the place throughout the summer day. There are two prepared barbecue areas with benches, a few playground equipment and a basketball hoop. There are also garbage cans, a separate container for disposable barbecues. Ornesvika is well suited for families, dog owners and others who want an easy fjord experience close to the city. At the same time, this is a bathing area without a lifeguard. The use of diving towers and bathing jetties is at your own risk, and everyone who bathes must take responsibility for their own safety and follow the bathing safety rules.

Transport

Ornesvika kan nås med bil fra E6 via Teknologiveien og Ornesveien. Det finnes et begrenset antall parkeringsplasser ved veien. Fra turistinformasjonen midt i Narvik sentrum er det rundt 2 km å gå til Ornesvika. Offentlig transport er ikke tilgjengelig.

There is no lifeguard in Ørnesvika. Use of the diving tower and bathing jetty is at your own risk. Never dive without knowing how deep it is. Never bathe alone. The bathing area has clear salt water, beach and green areas. The area down by the bathing area is closed with a barrier, and it is not possible to drive all the way down to the sea. Use the roadside parking spaces. There is a limited number of parking spaces. The toilet facility is only open when the weather is good in the period 1 June–31 August, 09:00–22:00. The toilets are cleaned daily during the opening period. Disposable barbecues must be placed on a stone surface and disposed of in their own container after use. Use the garbage cans and do not throw glass, metal caps or other rubbish in nature. Pick up after your dog. There are two lifebuoys in the area.

Ornesvika is located northeast of Narvik city center. By car, you drive from the E6 via Teknologiveien and on to Ornesveien. If you come on foot, you can follow the shoreline eastwards from Narvik Småbåthavn. The area down by the bathing area is closed with a barrier, so the car must be parked by the road.
