Description

This is a dog sledding expedition for those who want to get close to the Arctic wilderness and life with dog sleds. Each participant drives their own team of 4-6 dogs and follows the rhythm of nature through Dividalen National Park in Northern Norway. Along the way, you move through frozen lakes, birch valleys, pine forests, mountain passes and open plateaus.

The experience is as much about the cooperation between man and dog as it is about the landscape. You learn how to harness, feed and handle the dogs, and will be responsible for your own team throughout the expedition. The guides follow the group all the way, provide training and adapt the trip to the weather, conditions and the participants.

The area is perceived as desolate and raw wilderness, but has for centuries been a seasonal area for Sami reindeer herders. The route partly follows old migration routes between grazing areas, and it is possible to meet reindeer along the track. The nights are spent in mountain huts, reindeer herding cabins or expedition tents, depending on the conditions.

This is an easy and close to nature way to experience Northern Norway, with little infrastructure and a great distance from everyday noise. Weather and mountain conditions require flexibility, and the program is adjusted along the way according to the conditions.
