Description

Join Husky Isogaisa out into the winter landscape in Gratangen, where a team of huskies takes you through forests, along frozen rivers, over open valleys and on through rolling terrain.

This is an active dog sledding experience where you get to be close to both nature and the dogs.

Before the trip, you will receive thorough training on how to steer the sled safely. The experience is designed for guests who want to drive themselves, not just sit on as a passenger. Along the way, the trip is led by an experienced guide with his own dog team, and halfway there will be a short break where the dogs can rest, and the participants can take turns driving and taking pictures.

After the dog sledding, you are invited into a warm lavvu. Here the pace slows down, and the experience continues with dinner consisting of traditional biidus, coffee and cakes, stories from Sápmi and insight into Sami culture and joik.

The Northern Lights ceremony is led by a Sami shaman and is based on Sami tradition, where the Northern Lights (Guovssahas) are linked to the souls of the ancestors dancing in the sky.

The ceremony provides a calm and respectful end to a winter experience with animals, nature, food and culture close to each other.

From Narvik Tourist Information: 34 km

Drive north on the E6 towards Bjerkvik. Continue on the E6 towards Gratangen. Turn off towards Kvernmo/Gratangsbotn, and follow Kvernmoveien until Kvernmoveien 272.
The drive is about 34 km from Narvik sentrum and takes about 50 minutes.
