Description

Mountain hikes with the family can offer changing weather, new discoveries and a lot to learn along the way. This activity provides a practical introduction to mountain life for families who want to become more confident in how to get started with their own walks in nature. In the easily accessible mountainsides around Hotell Fjället, the guide goes through some of the basic principles for a good hiking day in the mountains. The family learns, among other things, what is useful to pack in the backpack, what a map and compass are used for, and what animals and plants you can meet in the area. The experience combines movement, play and learning in the mountain landscape. Here, both children and adults have the opportunity to ask questions, explore the surroundings and get to know the nature around Björkliden better.

From the center of Narvik, follow the E10 east towards Bjørnfjell and the Swedish border, and continue on towards Björkliden. Hotell Fjället is located at Björklidenvägen 70, 981 93 Björkliden. If you travel by train from Narvik, you get off at Björkliden station. From here, follow the road up to Hotell Fjället. Expect around a 10-15 minute walk from the station to the hotel.
