Description

The golf course in Björkliden is located 250 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, surrounded by high mountains and with Lake Torneträsk below the course. Here, the landscape is a clear part of the golf experience. From parts of the course, you can look towards Abisko and Lapporten, while the ore trains along the railway leave their distinctive mark on the surroundings.

The course has nine greens and 18 tees. The terrain creates variation throughout the round, with narrow fairways, mountain birches, water hazards, ravines and significant elevation differences. On one of the holes, the difference between tee shot and green is around 70 metres, making precision and shot selection an important part of the game.

The Lapporten hole is located at the highest point of the course and opens up the view of Torneträsk, Abisko and Lapporten. Swedish Golf's editorial staff has included the tee shot in their list of Sweden's 25 most beautiful golf holes.

The golf history in Björkliden dates back to 1929, when work on a golf course on the site began.

The current course was completed in 1989 according to drawings by Sune Linde and is considered Sweden's northernmost golf course.

Golf equipment can be rented separately in the Sportshopen in Björkliden.
Golf carts can be rented when the rental is open.
The course is open seasonally and closes when the snow conditions require it.
Weather and conditions can change quickly in the mountains, so dress accordingly.

From Narvik city center: 72 km

By car from Narvik, follow the E10 east towards the Swedish border and further towards Riksgränsen and Björkliden. It is also possible to travel by train and bus from Narvik to Björkliden. Check departures for trains on www.sj.se or for buses on norrtag.se

The golf course is within walking distance of Hotell Fjället. From the hotel, you walk up the gravel road towards the mountain and the golf course. The first tee shot and the first holes are located along this.
