Description

Museum Nord – Divtasvoudna/Tysfjord, Korsnes is located in an idyllic area with white beaches and lush landscapes, about 6 km from the ferry terminal at Bognes. The site is a former communications hub that once hosted a trading post, post office, telegraph station, and steamship landing. The buildings date from the 18th to the 20th century. In the old barn, you'll meet the cheerful and strong-willed photographer Magdalene Norman from Korsnes, who returned to her childhood home as an adult and worked as a postmistress and steamship agent. A short walk away, at the neighboring Leiknes farm, you’ll find a well-known rock art site from the Early Stone Age, estimated to be 8,000–10,000 years old.
