Description

Låktatjåkko Mountain Station is located 1228 meters above sea level, nine kilometers from Björkliden and without a road to the door. The mountain station is Sweden's highest and is located as a small outpost in the open high mountains. The rooms are simple and rustic, and limited mobile coverage and internet connection contribute to a stay where books, games, conversations and nature are given more space.

The accommodation includes a two-course dinner, where the staff also share anecdotes and stories from times gone by. The next morning, a real mountain breakfast is served. During the day, lunch and fika are served, and the iconic Låktatjåkko waffle is a sought-after part of the food offer at the mountain station. The resort also has a restaurant, sauna and shower.

The way up is an essential part of the experience. From Björkliden, the route goes from the mountain birch forest and further out into open mountain terrain, through Rakkaslahku and towards a final, steeper and rockier climb before the mountain station comes into view. In summer and autumn, guests have to get up on their own via the nine-kilometre route and about 740 metres of elevation. In winter, guests can be driven up by snowcat or go skiing to the mountain station.

Bed linen is not included due to limited laundry facilities. Bring your own bed linen, or buy travel sheets at the mountain station.
The mountain station is cash-free. Due to limited mobile coverage and internet connection, bank cards are recommended, as Swish may not work well on site.
Breakfast is served to overnight guests only. Dinner is prioritized for overnight guests, while others can order if there is available capacity.
The route goes in high mountain terrain. Weather and conditions can change quickly, and guests should be dressed and equipped for mountain hiking and changeable weather.

By car from Narvik, follow the E10 east towards the Swedish border and on towards Riksgränsen and Björkliden. It is also possible to travel by train and bus from Narvik to Björkliden. Check departures for trains on www.sj.se or for buses on norrtag.se

From Björkliden, you walk nine km with 740 meters of elevation gain along the mountain path to the mountain station.
