Description

The tour starts in Björkliden with transport to the chairlift in Abisko. From here, the journey continues with the open chairlift up Nuolja to around 900 meters above sea level, before the hike continues through the open high mountain terrain towards the summit at 1,164 meters above sea level. From the high mountains, the trip continues down the other side of Nuolja and back towards Björkliden. The landscape changes along the way from bare mountain areas to greener terrain and lush mountain birch forest. The view opens up towards Gohpasvággi and Torneträsk and clearly shows the contrasts between high mountains, valleys and forests. Nuolja is located in an area known for rich mountain flora. On the trip, you can, among other things, look for ice soles and birds such as mountain skuas and mountain ptarmigan. What you encounter in terms of plants and bird life varies with season and conditions, and sightings cannot be guaranteed. This is a trip where the actual movement through the landscape is an important part of the experience. From the open high mountains, you follow the terrain down towards the mountain birch forest at Björkliden, with a guide through the various natural environments along the way.
