Description

Leave the crowds behind and join a completely private dogsledding experience at OffTrack Experience, our small family-run husky kennel in Målselv, approximately two hours from Narvik.
Begin by meeting our pack of around 35 friendly Alaskan huskies and learning about their personalities, training, care and everyday life at the farm.

Your guide will provide a clear safety briefing and explain how the dog team works, how to handle the sled and how we communicate with the dogs. You will then head out through the winter landscape with a team of approximately five to eight eager huskies.
No previous experience is required. Drive your own dog team, share the driving with another person in your group, or enjoy the journey as a passenger with your guide. The private format allows us to adapt the roles and pace to adventurous guests, couples, families and guests who prefer a gentler way to participate.

Follow quiet trails through the boreal forest, surrounded by mountains and Arctic winter landscapes. Drivers should be prepared to help the dogs by pushing uphill and controlling the sled downhill.

The route, pace, dog teams and time spent moving are adapted to the snow, weather, trail conditions and how the dogs are feeling. Their welfare always comes first.
During the journey, we normally stop around a wood fire for a warm Norwegian lunch, usually reindeer soup. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free alternatives are available when requested in advance.

After returning to the farm, guests are welcome to help unharness the dogs and thank their team. We then gather in our cosy log cabin for coffee or tea, homemade cake and more time together.
The complete experience lasts approximately four hours at the farm and is exclusively for your own booking group, with a maximum of six guests.

Would you like to stay longer? Private overnight accommodation at our husky farm, together with access to our traditional wood-fired sauna, may be added on request and is subject to availability.
