Description

Riksgränsen Ski Resort is located high above the Arctic Circle, in the border mountains between Norway and Sweden. The ski resort is known for long winters, lots of snow, playful skiing and a season that stretches longer than most other places in Europe. Riksgränsen has a particularly strong name among freeriders and snowboarders. Here you will find groomed trails, children's areas and safer slopes, but also a mountainous terrain with natural jumps, ravines, rounded rock formations and large off-piste areas. It provides room for both playful turns, technical lines and skiing in a landscape where the weather, snow and light set the framework. The season in Riksgränsen offers great contrasts. Winter brings arctic conditions, powder days and changing mountain weather. When spring arrives, the landscape opens up with softer snow, long days and skiing under the midnight sun. Night skiing in May is part of Riksgränsen's distinctive character, and makes the facility a unique choice for guests who want to experience skiing well into the spring season. Riksgränsen also has a real ski culture. Here, local skiers, families, professional athletes, filmmakers and guests seeking an informal mountain experience meet. Off the slopes, there are winter activities, dining, accommodation, après ski, guiding and ski lessons as part of the overall offer in the area. Riksgränsen is part of Arctic Ski Resorts, along with Björkliden in Sweden and Narvikfjellet in Norway. With the Arctic Ski Pass, guests can combine three different Arctic ski destinations on one trip: Riksgränsen's long season and freeride tradition, Björkliden's calm and panoramic mountain environment, and Narvik's combination of fjord, city and alpine skiing towards the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2029. The Arctic Ski Pass provides access to 44 groomed slopes and large off-piste areas across the three resorts.

Transport

Riksgränsen kan nås med tog fra Narvik eller Kiruna, og med bil eller buss langs E10. Mellom Riksgränsen, Björkliden og Narvikfjellet går Arctic Skibus i skisesongen. Transfer mellom Riksgränsen og Björkliden er inkludert med vanlig liftkort når den forhåndsbestilles, mens transfer til Narvik krever Arctic Ski Pass.

Weather, visibility, snow conditions and open lifts can affect the skiing experience. Experiences such as the Northern Lights and the midnight sun depend on the season, date and weather conditions. Traffic outside groomed areas, off-piste and freeriding requires experience, the right equipment and assessment of local conditions. Transfer with Arctic Skibus must be pre-booked for guaranteed space, and travel to Narvik requires an Arctic Ski Pass. 43km from central Narvik

Drive the E10 east from Narvik towards Bjørnfjell, Riksgränsen and Kiruna. After crossing the border to Sweden, continue on the E10 to Riksgränsen. Follow the signs to the ski resort as you approach the area. Be aware that the road goes through mountainous terrain, and that weather and driving conditions can change quickly, especially in winter. Take the train from Narvik station eastwards along the Ofoten Line towards Sweden. Get off at Riksgränsen station.
