Today is an extra special day for us at Musikk i Nordland. After a brief period with an open seat, we are thrilled to warmly welcome our new violinist, Alex Goldberg! With Alex on board, our chamber ensemble is once again complete, and we can’t wait to share our music with all the rich harmonies and joyful group dynamic that a full ensemble brings. Today’s program features music that invites both quiet contemplation and rich musical discovery, and we are excited to perform Frank Bridge’s Piano Quintet in D minor for you! English composer Frank Bridge (1879–1941) is perhaps best known as the mentor of Benjamin Britten, but he was a remarkable composer in his own right, with a distinct and captivating voice. His Piano Quintet in D minor stands out as one of his grandest chamber music works—warm, passionate, and vivid with musical color. Expect a rich interaction between piano and strings as the music weaves between powerful, dramatic passages and gentle, lyrical moments.
It takes listeners on a journey through a wide range of emotions, yet remains effortlessly accessible thanks to its immediate melodic beauty. Thank you for taking a pause in your day to be with us—we hope you enjoy an inspiring musical break.
Enjoy the concert! Lunch Special: Don't forget the special lunch deal from Jor Håndverksbakeri, available exclusively on lunchtime concert days!
