“Into the Magic” “SiHei” Siv Heidi Rognmo was born in 1966 and grew up in Seines, in the municipality of Narvik. She now has her studio in Sjøvegan, Troms. Our traditional fairy tales have also been a source of fascination for her, often interpreted with her own unique twist. The nature and light of Northern Norway play an important role in her work. She explores a wide range of techniques and artistic styles, from hyperrealism to more abstract forms. She often has several works in progress at the same time and works largely by intuition. Using a variety of tools and techniques, she builds her paintings layer by layer, allowing the process to reveal what emerges along the way. Many layers and textures may develop on the canvas before a painting reaches its final form. Siv Heidi has worked extensively with animal portraits in soft pastel, but she also finds a wonderful sense of freedom in starting with a blank canvas and simply playing with colours and techniques.
