We talk a lot about growth in Narvik and Northern Norway. About investments, new jobs, tourism, infrastructure and the enormous opportunities that lie ahead. We talk about the buildings that will be constructed, the projects that will be developed and the region we want to build for the future.

But behind every development are people.

People who must be willing to make choices. People who dare to think differently, face adversity, seize opportunities and turn ideas into action. Because if we want to develop our region, we must also develop the people who will drive that development forward.

That is the starting point for MODIG VEKST – BRAVE GROWTH: a different kind of conference focusing on personal development, courage, self-awareness and the ability to take action, taking place at Royal Hall in Narvik on October 22, 2026.

The ambition is bigger than a single conference day. We want to create a meeting place that inspires people to pause, reflect, challenge themselves and perhaps take the step they have been thinking about for a long time.

Description

On stage, the audience will meet four strong and very different personalities: Aksel Hennie, Fritz Aanes, Svein Harald Røine and Are Johnsen.

They come from different backgrounds and bring different stories, experiences and perspectives. Yet they share a common thread: courage, choices, adversity, self-awareness, resilience and the ability to take action.

MODIG VEKST is not about presenting one recipe for success. It is about the human experiences behind the choices we make – what happens when things do not go according to plan, when we encounter resistance, when we doubt ourselves, and when we choose to keep moving forward anyway.

The goal is for the audience to leave with more than inspiration. We want people to leave with new perspectives and perhaps a concrete desire to do something differently.

For some, that may mean making a difficult decision. For others, it may mean starting a project, developing an idea, changing direction or finally doing something they have been putting off.

MODIG VEKST is intended to be a meeting place where people are both inspired and challenged.

The concept also builds on the experience of Truls & Are – Samtaler i tid, while the ambition is to establish MODIG VEKST as an annual conference in Narvik, with personal development at its core.

But MODIG VEKST is not only about developing ourselves.

It is also about what happens when people begin using their experiences, ideas and resources to create something around them.

That is why MODIG IDÉ – BRAVE IDEA is also being developed: a new arena for people with an idea, a project or a dream they want to bring to life. Aspiring entrepreneurs and other creative individuals will have the opportunity to present their ideas and connect with people who can contribute knowledge, networks, experience and support.

This perspective will become increasingly important in the years ahead.

Narvik and Northern Norway are entering a historic period, particularly in the lead-up to the 2029 Alpine World Ski Championships. Major investments and projects will be important for the region's development. But perhaps one of the greatest opportunities lies in the people who already live here – and in those who dare to seize the opportunities ahead.
