Experience dog sledding in the Arctic winter landscape at Camp Aspemo south of Tromsø. Here you meet the huskies, learn about dog sledding and drive a sled through snow-covered wilderness.

Description

This is a dog sledding experience at Camp Aspemo with transport from Tromsø, where you get to get close to both the dogs and the winter landscape. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by guides and given warm outdoor clothes and shoes that will keep you comfortable throughout the experience.

Before the tour starts, you get an insight into everyday dog sledding. The guides introduce you to the huskies, tell you how they are cared for, and give an introduction to basic sled training and dog welfare.

Then you meet your dog team. Experienced dog mushers provide training on how to drive a dog sled in a safe and good way. The trip is carried out in pairs, where one steers the sled while the other sits as a passenger, with the opportunity to change along the way.

After the dog sledding, you can warm up in the serving cabin with fresh coffee, tea and a traditional Norwegian cinnamon roll before returning to Tromsø.

The tour includes transport from Tromsø. If you want to drive yourself or arrange your own transport, the meeting time at Camp Aspemo is one hour after the scheduled departure time from Tromsø.

For example, if you have booked a departure from Tromsø at 09:00, you must meet at Camp Aspemo at 10:00.

Follow the E6 south from the center of Narvik for approx. 110 km. Turn right onto Mellombygdveien (Fv854) and follow the road for 8.6 km. Then turn left. The arrival point is on the right side.
