To mark this year’s UN Day, we invite you to a talk with renowned journalist and author Sidsel Wold. Sidsel has closely followed the Middle East for decades and has deep, firsthand insight into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Lately, speeches at the UN General Assembly have expressed far greater anger toward Israel than in the past. What has shifted? In her talk "Are We Seeing a Dam Bursting at the UN?", Sidsel shares her reflections on this turning point.
Sidsel Wold is one of Norway's most experienced foreign correspondents. She has been with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) since 1990, joining its foreign affairs desk full-time in 2000. She served two terms as Middle East correspondent—based in Jerusalem from 2007 to 2011, and in Istanbul from 2016 to 2022. Wold has authored several books, including her recent release "Israel - A Nation at War with Itself". Over her career, her impactful journalism has earned her numerous awards, including the Norwegian Refugee Council’s Perspective Prize, the Ossietzky Award, the Riksmål Prize, and Gullruten’s Honorary Award.
We look forward to an important and eye-opening evening at Narvik Library. A warm welcome to everyone!
