Description

Silverfallet is located in a raw and green landscape at Björkliden, where Rákkasjohka flows down towards Torneträsk. The waterfall is part of the river's journey from the mountain plateau Rákkasláhku and down to the large mountain lake. At Silverfallen, the water gathers power before it cascades through the gorge and on towards the beach.

The trip from Björkliden is short, but varied. You walk from the hotel area, past the ski slope and into the mountain birch forest. Along the way, you follow the sound of the water along paths, rocks and small pools before the landscape opens up towards the waterfall and Torneträsk.

From the bridge by the waterfall, you can see the water raging between the cliff edges. Further down you come to the pebble beach at Torneträsk, with magnificent views of Lapporten. Here it is suitable to take a break, eat a packed lunch or just lower your shoulders by the water.

Rakkasjohka is associated with the meaning "love stream" in Sami, and at the bridge you can see love locks attached to the fence as a human trace in the landscape. However, Silverfallet is first and foremost a nature experience: close, exposed to the weather and alive, with the water as the driving force throughout.
