Description

Polar Park is the world’s northernmost wildlife park and, since opening in 1994, has focused on animal welfare and providing animals with natural surroundings. The Nordic region’s large predators and hoofed animals live in spacious enclosures with forests, shrubs and varied terrain, giving them plenty of room to move around.

During your visit, you can explore the park at your own pace and look for animals such as brown bears, wolves, lynx, wolverines, Arctic foxes, moose, deer, musk oxen and reindeer. Because the animals have large areas to roam, they may sometimes retreat into the vegetation. However, many of them are social and curious, and if you allow plenty of time for your visit, there is normally a good chance of spotting several of the species.

You can also join a scheduled predator guiding tour with one of the animal keepers. The tour offers a closer look at lynx, wolverines, bears, wolves and Arctic foxes, while the keeper shares insights into their behaviour, lives and adaptations to the Nordic environment. Predator guiding is included in the regular admission ticket.

The park also has a restaurant and café, a souvenir shop, a children’s activity area, and fire pits that can be used during the summer. You can buy food in the park or bring your own food and drinks.

Additional information

The park is open every day throughout the year, except on 17 May and 24 December.

Predator guiding is offered at scheduled times: daily during the summer season and on Saturdays and Sundays during the winter season.

A free audio guide is available through the Voice of Norway app. The access code is available at reception.

The animals live in large, natural areas and may sometimes hide among bushes and vegetation. Allow plenty of time for your visit; at least two hours in the park is recommended.

The park also offers Photo Guiding, Arctic Fox Visit and Wolf Visit as separate experiences that must be booked or arranged in advance.

You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks into the park.

50 km north of Narvik and 184 km south of Tromsø.

From Narvik, follow the E6 north towards Tromsø for approximately 45 minutes. Turn off the E6 at the sign for Polar Park/Bones and follow the road for 3 km to Polar Park.
