With its four mountain peaks, which extend over 1300 meters above sea level and with Norway’s quietest fjord, Lavangen is the perfect place for nature-based experiences.
The landscape in Lavangen is characterized by the 17-kilometre-long and two-kilometre-wide fjord named Lavangen. The fjord is surrounded by steed mountains and end at the bottom of Spansdalen valley. Spansdalen valley also has the highest mountain in the area, Spanstinden, which is a well-known mountain both for winter- and summer summit trips.
Lapphaugen in Lavangen municipality has a great place in World War II history. This was the place where Hitler-Germany suffered its first defeat during World War II. A memorial boat has been placed at Lapphaugen in memory of General Fleisher, who led the Norwegian operations at Narvik in 1940.
