Description
This is OffTrack Experience’s longest and most comprehensive dogsled expedition. The journey takes you deep into Dividalen National Park in Northern Norway, an area of frozen lakes, quiet birch valleys, mountain passes, high plateaus and a strong sense of distance from roads and everyday noise. Each participant drives their own team of Alaskan huskies and follows the expedition’s pace through the landscape.
The experience is about more than standing on the sled. You learn how to handle the dogs, harness them, feed them and take part in the daily routines that come with expedition life. Over time, the partnership with the dogs, the weather and the mountains becomes a natural part of the journey. The guides provide training and stay with the group throughout the expedition.
The route passes through an area that has been used by Sámi reindeer herders for centuries. Along the way, tracks from reindeer, moose, fox, ptarmigan and wolverine may cross the snow, while each day is shaped by weather, snow conditions and the pace of the group. Nights are spent at the husky farm, in simple mountain cabins, reindeer herding cabins or expedition tents, depending on the route and conditions.
This expedition is for guests who want a close encounter with Arctic nature, dogs and simple outdoor living over several days. Mountain conditions decide the final route, and flexibility is a natural part of the experience.

More information
- No previous dogsledding experience is required
- You should have a good general fitness level and like dogs
- You must be able to help the dogs uphill and brake the sled downhill
- The route is adjusted daily according to weather, snow conditions and the group
- The mountain cabins are simple and shared, with a wood stove, but no electricity or running water
- When camping, warm expedition tents and winter equipment suited to Arctic conditions are used
- The organiser recommends travelling with a duffel bag rather than a hard suitcase
