Easter Skiing in Narvik

Easter in Narvik is all about skiing. Long days on the slopes, reliable spring snow, sunshine on the mountainside and the joy of spending time outdoors together.

In Easter 2026 you can even ski the future World Championship runs before the world’s best alpine skiers arrive for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 2029. Combine championship-level terrain with family-friendly ski days, all set between fjords, mountains and a lively city centre.

Narvikfjellet rises directly above the Ofotfjord. Within minutes you can go from the city centre to the gondola, and from there into terrain that offers wide family slopes, steeper runs for experienced skiers and exciting freeride areas.

The contrast between high alpine terrain and vibrant city life gives Narvik its unique character. Start your day carving above the fjord and finish it with dinner in the city centre.

A festive week for all ages! Easter in Narvik offers a packed programme of events, competitions, concerts and family activities throughout the holiday. From traditional Easter ski races to lively après-ski and activities for children, there is something happening every day on and off the slopes.

From sunny terraces to lively evenings! When the sun is high above the fjord and the skis are parked for the day, the Easter atmosphere truly comes alive. At Peisestua, locals and visitors gather for après-ski with live music and DJs throughout the Easter holiday. If you prefer a calmer evening, Camp Lodge and several skybars in the city offer great views of the fjord and surrounding mountains.

Just across the Swedish border you can also experience the legendary après-ski culture of Björkliden and Riksgränsen, known for their lively atmosphere and long spring evenings in the sun.

Narvik also offers a diverse food scene from traditional Norwegian Easter dishes like lamb roast to seafood, tapas and world-class pizza. As spring arrives, many outdoor terraces open so you can enjoy long lunches in the sun.

Alpine skiing in the heart of your Easter holiday

What makes Narvik special during Easter is how close the ski resort is to the city centre. This makes it easy to combine skiing, restaurants, events and city life without long transport times.

For families, this means less logistics and more time together on the slopes.

With the Arctic Ski Pass, you get access not only to Narvikfjellet but also to two legendary Swedish ski resorts: Björkliden and Riksgränsen.

With one ski pass you can ski in three resorts across two countries, offering a total of 16 lifts and 44 runs.

A shuttle bus between the resorts is included, making it easy to explore more than one area during your stay. Many families choose to stay in Narvik while experiencing completely different types of terrain throughout the Easter week, from urban fjord-side skiing to vast Swedish mountain landscapes.

Narvikfjellet Ski Resort

Narvik has been selected to host the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 2029, and the resort is already being developed for the event.

New lifts, improved snowmaking and upgraded slopes are increasing capacity and creating an even stronger alpine experience.

The new Linken Express chairlift takes you all the way to Linken at 1003 metres above sea level, offering spectacular views over the Ofotfjord and surrounding mountains.

From here you access the upper parts of the resort, where the future World Championship runs are taking shape. During Easter 2026 you can already ski the terrain where the world’s best alpine athletes will compete just a few years later.

At the same time, Narvikfjellet is designed for everyone, with modern infrastructure, smooth flow across the mountain and easy access back to the city.

Skiing in Narvik adds an extra dimension: you can feel that this is a mountain built for World Cup and championship skiing, yet open and accessible for all.

Riksgränsen Ski Resort

Just under an hour from Narvik lies Riksgränsen, one of Scandinavia’s most legendary ski destinations.

Here the landscape opens into vast mountain terrain and a freeride culture that has attracted skiers from around the world for decades.

Riksgränsen is famous for its varied terrain, combining groomed slopes with natural features perfect for playful skiing and exploration. In spring you can ski into the evening sun and under bright northern nights – a tradition that has made the resort iconic in Nordic ski culture.

For families, Riksgränsen offers a great mix of relaxed wide slopes and more challenging terrain for those seeking adventure.

Björkliden Ski Resort

Björkliden represents a quieter side of Arctic skiing.

Beautifully located above Lake Torneträsk, with panoramic views toward the iconic Lapporten valley, the resort offers a more relaxed mountain atmosphere.

The ski area features wide and family-friendly slopes, short lift lines and a peaceful alpine setting – ideal for both beginners and experienced skiers looking for variety.

What truly sets Björkliden apart is the range of experiences beyond alpine skiing. You can combine your ski day with ski touring, cross-country skiing, Northern Lights excursions or snowmobile safaris in the Swedish mountains.

For a unique experience, visit Låktatjåkko Mountain Lodge, Sweden’s highest mountain lodge, accessible by ski, on foot or via Catski transport. Here you’ll find traditional mountain cuisine, sweeping views and a memorable atmosphere.

An Easter holiday with more than just skiing

In the Narvik region, the experiences continue long after you take off your skis. Combine world-class alpine skiing with authentic Arctic adventures, all within short distances.

Try dog sledding through snowy landscapes, feel the speed of a snowmobile across open mountain plateaus, or take the spectacular Arctic Train journey along the Ofoten Railway.

You can also visit Polar Park, meet Sámi culture and traditions, or enjoy quieter activities such as cross-country skiing, floating saunas, fjord cruises, climbing centres, padel courts or ski touring in the bright spring evenings.

What makes Narvik a natural Easter destination is the complete experience:

  • A future World Championship ski resort
  • Three ski resorts with one shared ski pass
  • A compact and vibrant city centre
  • A wide range of Arctic experiences nearby

Few places in the Nordic region offer so much alpine skiing and variety within such short distances.
