In Brustad’s Capricci we embark on a journey of self-discovery.
We dive deep into our own thoughts and emotions, sensing the tension between right and wrong – a battle between the devil and the angel on our shoulders. A constant dialogue, a conflict between violin and viola.
The journey continues with Krzysztof Penderecki’s Ciaconna, written in memory of Pope John Paul II.
Here we turn our gaze outward, meeting the world with open hearts. The piece reveals a raw and honest side of ourselves – a struggle between grief, anger, and reconciliation – that ultimately leads us toward light, peace, and renewed connection with our surroundings.
Through Dohnányi’s Serenade we reconnect with the world around us; we explore how enriching collaboration and human connection can be. This music opens the doors of our inner castles, moving away from the introspection of Penderecki and Brustad toward a more outward-looking spirit.
Finally, in Vasks’ Castillo Interior, we reach a deep state of contemplation and self-reflection – a spiritual revelation where time stands still, and we encounter our true inner self amid solitude, storms, and silent wonder.
