Celebrate Giellavahkku: Sámi Family Day at Narvik Library
We’re wrapping up Giellavahkku with a family Saturday filled with Sámi culture!
Inside the library, Narvik Sámi Association will host children’s duodji (Sámi handicrafts), and Aina Alice Ronte-Santamäki from Várdobaiki will read aloud from the book Nammalávlla / The Name Song. The reading will be done in both Norwegian and Northern Sámi.
Outside the main entrance, the Sámi Association will set up a lavvu (traditional Sámi tent), where you can chat and buy some food and drinks. There will also be a lasso-throwing competition with separate classes for children, women, and men.

Event starts at 11:00 AM
Storytime at 12:00 PM
Lasso competition at 1:00 PM
This promises to be a fun and welcoming day for all ages, and we hope to see YOU at the library!
