The Dream of a White Christmas
på Narvik KulturhusIt is Christmas Eve’s eve, and an elderly mother awaits her two adult sons with their families. Will everyone come this year? No, of course not. But the sons eventually arrive. They find it exhausting to deal with the old mother, lame and blind as she is. Wouldn’t it be best for everyone if she… well, you know.
Just as that thought crosses their minds, there is a knock at the door. A crate of vintage wine appears on the table. A large knife finds its target. Lies and truths will be revealed. The mother’s past will come to light. And we will sing old songs once again.
It will be a feast and fireworks, laughter and tears, traditional Christmas dishes and a decorated tree, and abundant Christmas spirit as Statsteatret rings in the holiday together with Riksteatret and Nationaltheatret.
In recent years, Statsteatret has achieved great success across Norway with its critically acclaimed performances, showing how humor and gentle madness can convey thought-provoking themes. They are particularly known for their highly personal portrayal of 1,000 years of Norwegian history through ten theatre productions in ten years. In 2022, they received the Hedda Award for “special artistic achievement.”
We repeat: Do not, under any circumstances, bring the children to this performance.
