John Pål Inderberg is a towering figure in Norwegian jazz. With a strong sense of musical spontaneity, he has delighted audiences for decades with playful musicianship and a distinctive sense of humor. Over a long and rich career, he has performed with international jazz legends such as Chick Corea, Lee Konitz, Chet Baker, and Gil Evans.
In trio format with Håkon Mjåset Johansen and Trygve Waldemar Fiske, Norwegian folk music blends seamlessly with American jazz traditions, resulting in a sound that radiates joy of playing, artistic quality, and deep musical understanding.
Last year, the John Pål Inderberg Trio released the album Radio fra ura, the third in a series of critically acclaimed recordings. Featuring cover artwork by Håkon Bleken, poems in sonata form inspired by Kurt Schwitters, and texts by Edvard Hoem and Kristoffer Uppdal, the trio has created a truly unique concept album. Folk music, cool jazz, blues, and original lyrical compositions are presented with confidence, depth, and authority.
