Lecture with Professor Katarzyna Zysk: Norway’s Position in a Changing Security Landscape

Narvik Civil-Military Society and The Narvik War and Peace Centre are pleased to invite you to an engaging and important lecture with Professor Katarzyna Zysk.

Katarzyna Zysk is a professor of international relations and contemporary history at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies (IFS), part of the Norwegian Defence University College (FHS) in Oslo. At IFS, she has also served as Deputy Director (2017–2021), Head of Research, and Director of the Centre for Security Policy. In 2016, she was Acting Dean at FHS.

In her lecture, Professor Zysk will focus on the threat from Russia and the consequences this poses for Norwegian and allied deterrence and defence in Europe in general, and in the High North in particular.

She will address questions such as:
• What are Russia’s strategic goals, and what can they tell us about the country’s likely future behaviour?
• What does the ongoing large-scale military reform reveal about the kind of war Russia is preparing for?
• How do changes in U.S. global priorities affect Norwegian and European security, and what role does the High North play in this shifting security landscape?

This is a unique opportunity to hear from one of the leading experts in the field, ask questions, and gain new perspectives.

The event is open to everyone. Welcome!
