Lunchtime concert at Narvik Public Library
Todays program brings together two composers from the 18th and 19th centuries who, each in their own way, expanded the expressive possibilities of the piano. Ludwig van Beethoven (17701827) was a central figure in the transition from Classicism to Romanticism. Sonata No. 30 in E major, Op. 109, was composed late in his life and is of a more intimate character and freer form. Frédéric Chopin (18101849) is known for his distinctive piano style and his many contributions to the Romantic solo repertoire. The Études, Op. 25, are a collection of technical studies that are also considered fully developed concert pieces.
