Opera Gems at the Library – a Summery Lunchtime Concert!
After nearly 20 years of musical collaboration, soprano Nora Oleanne Sårheim and pianist Andreas Løken Taklo have become a well-oiled machine – a dynamic and dazzling duo. Both originally from Florø, they have performed across Norway both together and individually. Now, they finally bring their talents to Northern Norway, showcasing the beauty of opera in concert form.
Sårheim holds master’s degrees from the Grieg Academy (University of Bergen) and the Norwegian National Opera Academy (KHiO), and now works as a freelance artist based in Oslo. She is known for her powerful and expressive solo performances, and is a sought-after singer for both private and public events.
Taklo earned his master’s degrees from the Barratt Due Institute and the Norwegian Academy of Music. He currently works as a répétiteur at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, alongside freelance work as a pianist and accompanist.
Opera Gems is a concert for both seasoned opera lovers and curious newcomers. Sårheim and Taklo expertly guide the audience through the program, sharing stories about the composers, the operas, and the music. Each piece is given its own atmosphere, drawing the audience into the heart of the operatic world.
The program features both well-known and lesser-known works – from Britten to Puccini. Listeners can rest assured: they are in good hands. The entire performance is presented in newly translated Nynorsk versions, adapted by Sårheim herself.
The concert is especially suitable for those aged 12 and up, but there is no age restriction. (Though the artists note the program has only been tested on audiences up to 104 years old!)
The concert lasts one hour and is performed without intermission.
Free and open to all!
