Description
In OVERSETT, Marthe Valle, Håvard Lund, Håkon Mjåset Johansen, and Musikk i Nordland’s string quartet perform well-known songs from the history of international popular music in entirely new versions. By translating the lyrics into Northern Norwegian, the songs gain a new perspective and can suddenly tell stories about life, love, and challenges in Northern Norwegian communities. A song originally written in New Orleans or London may feel as if it were written about Hemnes or Leirskardalen.
The concert places great emphasis on communication and connection with the audience. Marthe Valle uses both her powerful voice and her engaging stage presence to create a personal and welcoming atmosphere. Together with six musicians, she creates a distinctive sound that blends vocals, keyboard, bass clarinet, drums, and strings. The performance also carries a message of humanity, community, and compassion. Through the music, the artists highlight the importance of self-respect, understanding, and care for others, making OVERSETT much more than just a musical concert.
