"Punishment" at Aurora Cinema with an introduction

Screening of the award-winning documentary Punishment
from a silent retreat at Halden Prison, with an introduction by Britt Levine Lundin from the Salvation Army in Narvik.

About the film:
Since 2013, Halden Prison has offered a Jesuit silent retreat to inmates. During the retreat, participants live like monks in complete silence, withdrawing from the outside world. The only interruption is a daily conversation with the prison chaplain.

In this powerful and award-winning documentary, Øystein Mamen makes his directorial debut. Through an observational approach and by closely following the conversations between the chaplain and the inmates, the film offers intimate insight into their thoughts—what they regret, what they hope for, and how they imagine their future.

The film has received strong praise from both critics and audiences:

“...one of the best Norwegian films of the year” – Adresseavisen
“Punishment grips us as a cinema audience” – Khrono
“Concludes with a powerfully striking finale” – NRK P3
“It is precisely hope that moves me so deeply.” – Dag og Tid
