Workshop: Acrylic Painting
Description
Art critic and artist Christophe Massé in Bordeaux, writes about her art: "Cathrine Muryn's paintings carry light and intensity that come from a certain restraint together with a powerful expressiveness. Hesitation combined with freedom and craftsmanship, which disappears when it reaches the edge of the canvas... All the layers of paint offer one to sink into the work.. I am completely inside a landscape of paint over another landscape of paint, which is over another landscape of paint.. and so on, almost infinitely".
Cathrine Muryn has lived and worked in Barcelona for 12 years, but now lives in Nesodden with her Catalan husband, children and chickens. She has exhibited in Catalonia and France for many years, and has paintings in collections in both Barcelona and Bordeaux, including those of Lluís Peñuelas Reixach, Secretary General of the Gala-Dalí Foundation. Cathrine originally trained in medical anthropology and has worked on projects in East Africa.
She studied art at Nydalen Kunstskole in Oslo (1994-2001), and later Metàfora, Tallers D’Art Contemporani in Barcelona.
The course
We start at 2:00 PM on Thursday and paint for four full days under the expert guidance of Cathrine Myrun. On Sunday at 6:00 PM we will arrange a vernissage where the course works will be exhibited.
There will be daily input from Cathrine.
After lunch we will be able to have group presentations where you tell a little about what you are working on, with the opportunity for feedback from the other course participants. This is intended to stimulate personal artistic development.
You can work with something new – an idea you want to paint – or bring one or more works you are already working on.
We will work in size 1.20 x 1.20. Canvas can be purchased. Paint and equipment are included in the package.
Feel free to bring your favorite brushes if you wish (we also have brushes to borrow).
