Anniversary Concert – LKAB Musikkorps

Join us as LKAB Musikkorps celebrates its 100th anniversary with a grand concert filled with history, musical highlights, and unforgettable moments.

In 1926, a small group of music-loving workers at LKAB in Narvik took the initiative to form a wind band. With limited resources, borrowed instruments, and great enthusiasm, they created a musical community that would leave a lasting mark on the local area. Since then, LKAB Musikkorps has become an important cultural institution and a gathering point across generations.

Through times of crisis and war, as well as concerts and public celebrations, the band has evolved into a musical ambassador for both the city and the art form. From the first marches through the streets of Narvik to performances on international stages in Sweden, the Netherlands, Yugoslavia, Austria, and Spain, the band has carried its music far beyond its hometown.

The anniversary concert presents a rich and varied program featuring music from the past 100 years. The audience will experience works by composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johan Svendsen, Giacomo Puccini, and Ludwig van Beethoven, as well as pieces by Jacob Gade, Charlie Chaplin, and Elton John.

A special highlight is the performance of music from the film The Battle of Narvik, arranged for the band by Lars Erik Gudim of the Norwegian Armed Forces Music. Several movements will be performed, with Gudim himself visiting Narvik to conduct the concert.

Performers for the evening include conductor Runar Sollie, soprano Jurgita Juozuniene, and host Jan Erik Teigen.

We look forward to celebrating 100 years of music, people, memories, and community—together with you!
