Midnight Concert: Stabat Mater // Vinterfestuka 2026
The text describes Mary’s sorrow as she stands at the cross of Jesus and dates back to the 14th century, with unknown authorship. It has been set to music in many versions over the centuries, but the most famous is Giovanni B. Pergolesi’s composition from 1736—the same year the composer died, only 26 years old.
Narvik School of Culture is hosting Ensemble Oscar, the district musicians of Ofoten, a scheme run by Nordland County Council in cooperation with the host municipalities in Nordland.
