Ord i Spor: From the Streets of Oslo to the Shores of the Arctic Ocean

Ord i Spor launches its literary program with two of Norway’s most acclaimed authors. The audience can look forward to an evening filled with compelling stories, narrative joy, and a powerful meeting between the city and the Arctic Ocean during Vinterfestuka 2026.

Lars Saabye Christensen (b. 1953) has a versatile literary output and is considered one of Norway’s most respected and popular authors. His coming-of-age novel Beatles remains a vivid portrait of the second half of the 20th century. Saabye Christensen has received the Nordic Council Literature Prize and numerous other awards and is a member of the Norwegian Academy for Language and Literature.

Ingeborg Arvola (b. 1974) is one of Northern Norway’s most prominent contemporary authors. In recent years, she has captivated readers with her series Ruijan rannalla – Songs from the Arctic Ocean, which follows the dramatic life of Brita-Caisa Seipajærvi and is based on Arvola’s own family history of Kven emigration to the coast of Finnmark. The series began with Kniven i ilden (2022), which won the Brage Prize, followed by Vestersand (2024) and Ulvespor (2025).

Evening program:

6:00–7:00 PM: Conversation with Lars Saabye Christensen, hosted by Øystein Gravrok

7:00–8:00 PM: Conversation with Ingeborg Arvola, hosted by Renate Josefsen

It promises to be an evening of powerful storytelling and literary energy – a brilliant start to Vinterfestuka 2026.
