Supercharger Duo - Ernst Wiggo Sandbakk & Eirik Tveten

SuperCharger Duo has had a blast performing at festivals such as Bærum Jazz Festival, Nidaros Blues (twice), Blues in Hell, Kardamili International Jazz Festival (Greece, twice), Dalane Blues Festival (twice), Blues i Blåfjell, Bodø Jazz Open, Vinterfestuka in Narvik, Festspillene i Nord-Norge, Hemnesjazz, and Sortland Jazz Festival. In addition, they have played a host of club gigs in Larvik, Hamar, Narvik, Skjellesvik, Kjeldebotn, and Tromsø. The duo was also engaged for a DKS tour (cultural school program) for secondary schools in Trøndelag, performed for Spaserstokken, and played dance music at Trøndelag Teater and Nye Hjorten Teater. Upcoming shows include Polarjazz, Oslo, Bergen, and Stavanger, Vossa Jazz, and many more venues.

SuperCharger Duo plays danceable, audience-friendly music inspired by New Orleans jazz and has completed around 80 gigs since forming in 2023. The talented Eirik Tveten (26, piano) from Tønsberg met drummer and teacher Ernst Wiggo Sandbakk (68) at NTNU Jazz Program, and they quickly found the perfect “tone and rhythm.” Audiences love SuperCharger Duo.

Eirik, a recent graduate of NTNU Jazz Program, lives in Trondheim and delivers boogie-woogie, ragtime, blues, and jazz with unstoppable energy.

The veteran drummer Ernst Wiggo Sandbakk hails from Kjeldebotn and has shaped Trondheim’s music scene for nearly 48 years – as a studio musician (working with DumDum Boys, Hans Rotmo, Henning Sommerro, and countless jazz recordings), a teacher at NTNU Jazz Program, and as director of Trondheim Jazz Festival. He contributed to Thorgeir Stubø’s debut release Notice in 1981 alongside Henning Gravrok, Terje Bjørklund, and Bjørn Alterhaug – an album that went on to win the Spellemann Award.
