Lecture at the Narvik Centre – Experiences from UNIFIL in South Lebanon

The Narvik Centre invites veterans, history enthusiasts, and the general public to an engaging lecture on Thursday, 2 July, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Retired Commander of the UNIFIL helicopter wing (NORAIR) during 1978–1979, Svein Halvor Danielsen, will share his personal experiences and reflections from his service in South Lebanon. The lecture offers a unique perspective on one of Norway's most significant international peacekeeping missions.

Description

During the lecture, Svein Halvor Danielsen will discuss his leadership of the NORAIR helicopter wing, the operational challenges faced by the unit, cooperation with United Nations forces, and encounters with the local population in a conflict-affected region. He will also reflect on how the mission influenced him personally and the lasting significance of the UNIFIL operation for Norwegian veterans and Norway's contribution to international peacekeeping.

The lecture will take place in the auditorium at the Narvik Centre, starting at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free, and everyone with an interest in history, international peacekeeping, and the experiences of Norwegian veterans is welcome.
