Nedre Skinnstakk

Nedre Skinnstakk is a mountain hiking destination at 656 meters above sea level in Evenes, in the mountains above Laksåvatnet. The trip goes through raw and calm nature, with the possibility of a round trip via Klubbfjellvatnet.

Nedre Skinnstakk is a moderately demanding mountain hike for those who want to enter quiet mountain terrain in Evenes. The hiking destination is located by Nedre Skinnstakkvatn, in a landscape with mountain lakes, marshes, grazing areas and open mountain sections.

The recommended route goes from the parking lot at the North Cape directly up to Nedre Skinnstakk. From here you can return via Steinlegda and further down towards Klubbfjellvatnet, where there is a shelter by the water. The round trip provides a varied mountain experience without making the trip more complicated than necessary.

For an easier hike in the same mountain area, you can go directly from the North Cape to Klubbfjellvatnet. This hike has a small difference in altitude and follows a marked path, but the area can be marshy. Wear footwear that can withstand wet surfaces.

Nedre Skinnstakk is relevant in the Narvik region because the trip shows a quieter side of the mountains around Ofoten: real, open and close to nature. Here, it is not major interventions that dominate, but paths, water, grazing animals and mountain terrain that require common mountain sense and respect for the area.
