Husky Isogaisa

Husky Isogaisa

Husky Isogaisa is located at Kvernmo in Gratangen, about half an hour's drive north of Narvik. We combine Sami experiences with nature experiences from the dog sled. According to old Sami tradition, all family members participate in the business. Young and old each have their own tasks which are solved to the best of their ability.

Visit us and see with your own eyes, the wonderful energy and drive of a husky. For a dog to thrive and work, it must be well taken care of. We take this very seriously and we have possibly the world's most elaborate dog houses. Each doghouse is well insulated, both in the roof, walls and floor. Each dog has two rooms available. Screened porch, where they find shade in summer, and a bedroom where they can hide in winter. In the bedroom, the dogs get a thick layer of straw to snuggle on.

Lavvu is the name of the Sami's tent. In the lavvu we light a fire, make coffee and serve Sami food. We tell old Sami tales and legends, about the spirits, and about the souls in the northern lights. The shaman will lead you through a touching ceremony, according to old Sami tradition. We also explain about Sami language, culture and, not least, modern social life. Maybe you'll even hear a joik…
