Description

Taraldsviktoppen is suitable for those who want a short mountain hike with a clear Narvik feeling: fjord, mountains and city close to each other. The trip starts at the mini power plant at the entrance to the hiking trails in Tøttadalen and goes first towards Førstevannet.

Large parts of the trip follow a gravel road up to Førstevannet. From there, the route continues to the right and further along the ridge towards Taraldsviktoppen. The last part goes on a path along smooth-scoured rocks, before you reach the summit.

The view gradually opens up as you go uphill. From the top you get a really good overview of Narvik, the fjord and the landscape around the city. At the top there is a cairn book, and the usual return is the same way back.

The trip is popular from spring until before the snow settles in late autumn. It is also very popular with children due to the easy terrain, and is well suited for dogs.
